The 23rd Century. Matter transport rules the suburbs. The pampered masses barely leave their apartments while The Computer attends to their every need. The roads are dead.

You are a Rebel — pledged to preserve the Old Ways by taking on the Battletrack, a vast expanse of abandoned motorway circling the capital. There can only be one ruler of the highways. You, the Renegade on the Motorbike.

About this version

A loving tribute to Mean Streak (1987) by Mirrorsoft — the C64 original where you raced the Battletrack to claim the ultimate super-bike. This homage expands the formula into a 12-sector neon-drenched arcade racer, built as a single HTML5 file that runs in any browser. No installer, no plug-ins, no Outcasts in your way except the ones on screen.

Twelve sectors of the Battletrack

Each sector has its own time of day, weather, hazards and music — fight your way from dawn to apocalypse:

• Neon City (Dawn) → Industrial Zone → Desert Outskirts → Toxic Wasteland
• Coastal Highway (rain) → Mountain Pass (ice) → Lava Zone (heat)
• Neon Strip → Storm Zone (thunder + rain) → Arctic Sector (frozen)
• Inferno Core → Mega City Final — the apocalypse showdown

At the end of each sector, an Outcast Leader boss bars your way. Survive long enough and the Endless Mode unlocks.

Arsenal

The original gave you rockets and oil slicks. This version arms you to the teeth:

• Gun (Z) — chip away at Outcasts and roadside drums
• Rockets (X) — heavy ordnance for tough riders and bosses
• Oil slick (C) — drop behind to wreck pursuers
• Wheelie (V) — jump hazards and ramps
• Ramps to leap walls and gaps; chain-exploding drums to clear the road

Upgrade Shop

Between sectors, spend your score at the shop — Armor, Fuel Tank, Tyre Grade, Rocket Capacity, Oil Capacity, Engine — each with five upgrade tiers.

Pickups

Watch the road for fuel, rockets, oil, repair kits, tyre kits, and limited-time shield, magnet and double-damage power-ups.
